- Insists He Must Appear In Person
From Abel Leonard, Lafia
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Area Manager of PowerGen Interconnected Energy Ltd, the company handling the power project in Toto LGA, to appear before the House in person.
The directive came after the House expressed dissatisfaction with the representative sent by the Area Manager, Mr. John Ufeoshi, during a session on May 21, 2024.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau emphasized that the House had invited the Area Manager to explain the reasons behind the lack of power supply in Toto LGA.
“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to invite anybody concerning issues of public importance,” Jatau said. “We discovered that the Area Manager of the PowerGen did not appear in person but he has sent a representative.”
“We are again giving the Area Manager of the PowerGen Interconnected Energy LTD to appear before the House in person within two weeks,” he added.
The Speaker stressed that the purpose of the invitation was to ensure that the people of Toto LGA and its environs receive power supply.
Earlier, Mr. Ufeoshi, who identified himself as an errand boy for the Area Manager, stated that he would refer any questions he could not answer to his superior.
It was previously reported that Speaker Jatau had directed the Area Manager to appear before the House on May 21, 2024, with all necessary documents authorizing the company’s operation in the area.
