President Bola Tinubu has assured Niger Republic’s military leader, General Abdourahamane Tiani, of Nigeria’s solidarity following the death of his father, Elhadji Tiani Hassane, at the age of 110.
Hassane died on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Nigeria stood with the government and people of Niger Republic as they mourned the deceased.
The President described the loss of a father as a profound and deeply personal grief, urging Tiani to take solace in his father’s long life and the positive impact he made on those around him.
He said the deceased left behind an enduring legacy of faith, honour and integrity, adding that his 110 years of life were a blessing to all who knew him.
“In this moment of mourning, I pray that you will find solace in the enduring legacy of faith, honour, and integrity that your father leaves behind, and in the knowledge that his long and fulfilled life was a blessing to all who knew him,” Tinubu said.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s support for the neighbouring country, he added: “Nigeria stands in solidarity with Your Excellency and the Government and people of the Republic of Niger during this period of grief.”
Tinubu prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort his family and all those he left behind.
