A high ranking member of the Boko Haram terrorist group, identified as Bulama Kailani Mohammed Metele, has surrendered to 145 Task Force Battalion, 5 Brigade troops at Damasak, Borno State. Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman, made this known in a press statement, yesterday. Usman said Metele, from Tumbun Bera in Borno, until his surrender, was a high profile member of the Mamman Nur’s faction of the terrorist group under the leadership of Abu Mustapha. He said Metele was of serial number 253 on the Nigerian Army’s wanted Boko Haram terrorists poster produced recently. Meanwhile, Usman said that two suspected Boko Haram terrorists carrying out surveillance on Kareto and Dangalti villages were, based on information, arrested by troops of 158 Task Force Battalion of 5 Brigade. According to the army’s image-maker, preliminary investigation shows that Melete and his men were on reconnaissance mission to facilitate possible attacks on some communities. “He (Melete) is currently undergoing further interrogation,” he said.
