Nigerian musician, Tochukwu Emmanuel Ejim aka TJay Kartel, is set to stage a comeback with a soon-to-be-released song, EleweUkwu 2.0.
On why he took a break from the music scene, the singer, who started his music career in 2009, said: “I was exposed to other professions that I also showed interest in, and exhibited skills to match. So, I had to develop those other areas as well, and for a while music took a back seat even though, I didn’t stop. I was mostly working behind the scenes, and voicing/writing for other artistes while I pursued these other interests. This was also the time I lent my voice and services politically to certain challenges facing the people of my home state of Imo. I felt I had done enough in other areas, and my music was calling me. So, I answered.”
Talking about his new release, TJay Kartel noted: “I have no doubt that this song will make a huge impact. It’s already a classic, so bringing it forward, 2.0, for this generation of consumers was a no-brainer. It’s a song that will be enjoyed across board, genres, generational gaps etc. My music preaches love. My music equally motivates and inspires.”
When asked what fans should expect from him going forward, the musician stated: “My fans can expect the TJay magic. The best of romantic, inspirational, feel good highlife music. Definitely, being absent for a while put me back to the starting line. While that is challenging, it also inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and do more. The stage is new. Everything has changed, from making music, to promotion and consumption. I find myself daily trying to adapt to these changes that were not there years ago.”
