The Chairman of the Senate Committee on South East Development Commission (SEDC) and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, said President Bola Tinubu’s directive to strengthen unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections, prompted him to attend the Party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Abia State.

Senator Kalu made this known during the Abia APC pre-Primary Election Engagement held at the party’s new state secretariat in Umuahia.

The former governor urged party stakeholders to put aside grievances and work together to ensure victory for the APC and its candidates.

He cautioned against divisive rumours and false narratives allegedly being spread by individuals seeking to create disunity among party leaders.

“As we approach the party primaries, there is need for transparent and inclusive measures in the conduct of the exercise to avoid post-primary crises arising from competing interests”, he said.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu said APC had demonstrated strength and capacity, adding that, the efforts the party members have made over the past three years were already yielding positive results.

The deputy speaker commended leaders and loyalists of APC in Abia State for their solidarity and commitment to the party.

He said APC remains a strong political force in the state, noting that whenever the party makes a move, the opposition becomes unsettled and expressed confidence that the party would deliver more votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

He called for a unity of purpose and urged members to support one another after the primaries.

Former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha expressed satisfaction with the current state of the party and commended its leadership for strengthening the APC in Abia.

The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, urged aspirants to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid acts capable of disintegrating the party after the primaries.

In their separate speeches, APC governorship aspirants, Mascot Uzor Kalu and Eric Opah, outlined their visions for Abia State, promising accelerated development, job creation and economic growth if elected. They called for unity and fairness during the primaries.
