Tinubu swears in permsecs, chairman, commissioners of NASS service commission

President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, administered the oath of office to two permanent secretaries as well as the Chairman and Commissioners of the National Assembly Service Commission.

The brief ceremony, which took place at 2:12pm in the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, immediately before the start of the 25th Federal Executive Council meeting, was witnessed by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Saviour Enyiekere, was appointed for a five-year renewable term.

Enyiekere, an environmental specialist, was the deputy chief of staff to the Senate President before his appointment.

Twelve commission members from the six geopolitical zones also took the oath of office.

They are Suleiman Hunkuyi and Yusuf Tabuka from the North West, Aminu Malle and Lawan Mahmud from the North East and Mark Tersoo and Salihu Balogun from the North Central.

Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and Afeez Ipeza-Balogun (South West), Nnanna Kalu and Festus Odii (South East), with Patrick Giwa and Mary Ekpenyong (South-South) also took their oaths.

Members of the Commission will serve a renewable term of five years.

The permanent secretaries sworn in were Dr. Mukthar Madori and Rafiu Adelana.

The council observed a minute’s silence to honour a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dubem Onyia, who died on March 10, 2025 at the age of 73.

Afterwards, Tinubu presided over the Federal Executive Council meeting.

In attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Ministers and Ministers of State.
