At the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, a significant milestone was reached on Saturday as cadets of the 7/2019 Regular Course of the Nigeria Police Academy graduated. President Bola Tinubu used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to equipping Nigeria’s security agencies with modern tools and training.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu stated, “We are committed to equipping police and security agencies to tackle insecurity.”
The president described the ceremony as a “momentous milestone” for the young cadets and noted the academy’s transformation into a degree-awarding institution, reflecting Nigeria’s investment in professionalising security forces.
“Our vision remains clear—to raise a police force that is well educated, well trained, and fully equipped to manage internal security with dignity and fairness,” Tinubu declared, setting a tone of expectation for the new officers.

Akume, on the President’s behalf, charged the graduates to lead with honour and selflessness: “You are not just law enforcers; you are guardians of our collective security and well-being. The nation expects you to serve with honour, fairness, and selfless dedication.”
The government pledged continued support for the welfare and professional development of police officers, addressing both immediate security challenges and the socio-economic roots of insecurity. “Your welfare and professional development shall remain a priority of the Federal Government,” Akume assured cadets and their families.
“Let us look to the future with hope and determination; together, we can build a Nigeria that is secure, just, and prosperous for all,” Tinubu concluded.
