President Bola Tinubu has vowed that Nigeria will stand firm against terrorism following deadly attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, declaring unequivocally that the nation “will not succumb to fear.”

In a statement on his verified X handle (@officialABAT), Tinubu mourned the lives lost in the recent Maiduguri attacks, sympathised with the injured, and expressed solidarity with Borno residents. He framed the assaults as “final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear,” underscoring that these groups face mounting pressure from Nigeria’s armed forces. “Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he affirmed, positioning the attacks—including Monday’s coordinated strikes on military positions—as the “desperate acts of the evil-minded terrorist groups.”

Tinubu commended the “courage and fighting spirit of our patriotic troops who successfully repelled the coordinated attacks,” pledging that “our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down.” Just last weekend, during a security meeting, he approved “additional equipment and operational support” for agencies, with efforts already underway, and directed chiefs to Maiduguri while ordering emergency care for victims.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” Tinubu stated, reinforcing that security operations will intensify nationwide.
