President Bola Tinubu has commended his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, describing him as a key figure in Nigeria’s civic engagement, democratic organisation and modern public communication architecture as he marks his 60th birthday on today.

In a statement, Tinubu described Dare as a “renowned journalist, communications expert, and my Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications,” noting his significant contributions during the formative years of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He recalled their collaboration between 2013 and 2014 during the political merger that produced the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, saying they worked “day and night… planning, strategising, consulting, and engaging with like-minded people in our bid to forge an alliance between progressives in the North and South of Nigeria.”

He added that Dare played a decisive role in the push for a “progressive democratic order,” stressing that he “exhibited no let or hindrance,” while his “dexterity, tenacity, industry, resilience, professionalism, and multitasking clearly came to the fore” during the process.

The President also highlighted Dare’s earlier service as his Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, where he said the media aide demonstrated “fine leadership, innovative thinking and courage.”

Tinubu further traced Dare’s public service trajectory under the late President Muhammadu Buhari, including his appointment as Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management at the Nigerian Communications Commission, and later as Minister of Youth and Sports Development.

According to the President, Dare has brought “deep understanding of digital and new media” into his current role, contributing significantly to the modernisation of government communications under the Renewed Hope administration.

He also acknowledged Dare’s civic and community recognition, noting that he was conferred with the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and installed by his community as the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland in Oyo State.

Tinubu expressed appreciation for Dare’s “partnership” and “invaluable work,” thanking him for his continued service to the administration and the country.

He wished the media aide “many more years, good health and increased wisdom” as he continues to serve Nigeria in various capacities.
