The Yayi-Kudirat Students Campaign Organisation (YASKCO) has hailed the appointment of four young leaders into key positions within the APC Ogun State Campaign Council, describing the development as a positive indication of the growing space for youth and student voices in the political process.
This was made known in a statement signed by Convener of the group, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman and made available to Daily Sun on Monday.
“We felicitate with Comrade Olamide Lawal, Chairman, Youth Engagement Committee; Comrade Adeyemi Samson, Chairman, Students’ Affairs Committee; Comrade Adeyemi Azeez, Co-Chairman, Students’ Affairs Committee and Hon. Aroboto Rasheed, Chairman, Students’ Engagement Committee.
“For YASKCO, these appointments are beyond the individuals involved. They represent an avenue for the younger generation to participate directly in political organisation, stakeholder engagement and grassroots coordination,” the statement reads in part.
The group said their presence within the campaign structure further reinforces the place of students and youths as active participants in shaping the political direction of Ogun State.
It added, “We commend the Ogun State APC leadership under the leadership of Chief Yemi Sanusi and Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan YAYI for entrusting these responsibilities to young men who have demonstrated commitment, organisational ability and strong connections with the grassroots.
“YASKCO is particularly delighted that the students constituency has been given meaningful responsibilities within the campaign structure.
“We believe that effective political engagement requires people who understand the realities, expectations and aspirations of young Nigerians, particularly students across our institutions.
“Our campaign organisation is confident that these appointees will bring energy, discipline, strategic thinking and effective grassroots coordination to their respective assignments.
“Their new responsibilities provide another platform to build stronger bridges between the political establishment, young people and the wider students community.
“YASKCO therefore wishes the four appointees a fruitful coordination and urges them to approach their assignments with humility, inclusiveness and an unwavering commitment to delivering measurable results.
