President Bola Tinubu has commended the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, for his commitment to the promotion of Yoruba cultural heritage.
Speaking at Iwo, Osun State, during the 10th anniversary of the monarch, Tinubu, who was represented by Engr. Olasunkami Tegbe, Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, said the unity that existed in Iwoland is a testimony that the monarch is well loved.
“The tremendous impact and progressive streak of Oluwo in the past decade of his accession to the throne is well noted. Your unwavering commitment to Yoruba cultural heritage is commendable.
“Like him or hate him, you can hardly ignore his dynamism and his leadership and the fact that the people love him.
“The greatest treasure of Iwo is enduring harmony for generations, Muslims, Christians, traditional worshippers have lived side by side in peace, proving that diversity well guided by wisdom becomes a source of strength.
“Your majesty, Oluwo of Iwo, 10 years on the throne of your ancestors is no longer passage of time, it’s a decade of grace of wisdom, of steadfast and visionary leadership. Under your reign, Iwo has enjoyed deeper peace with new cultural vigour, commendable progress in community development, you have carried the calm with your people, today we gather to celebrate the impact,” Tinubu said.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was represented by Commissioner for Water Resources, Olufemi Oroniyi, appreciated Oluwo for the good job he is doing in the town.
He said the government is behind Oluwo, saying “there is no amount of intimidation that can remove that stool of Iwoland from you.
“He is so passionate about Iwo, he is our number one patriot, so we really appreciate you for doing a very good job for the people of Iwo land and Osun State.
“Your cooperation to Osun State government is immense and the government is ready all the time to give you the required support in any way.”
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, Tunde Rahman, senior assistant to the president on Media and Special Duties, prayed for Oluwo and advised him to continue his humanitarian service to the people of Iwoland.
