Timber Market Inferno: Sen Kalu visits Umunneochi, sympathises with victims

Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday paid a sympathy visit to the victims of the Umunneochi Timber Market fire incident.

The fire incident had destroyed shops and property worth billions of Naira.

Represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Barr. Victor Etie, Chairman of OUK Movement, Umunneochi LGA, Mr Basil Offor, Umunneochi LGA Chairman of the All Progressives Congress( APC), Prince Ugochukwu Ezekwesiri sympathised with the management of Timber Market and the traders whose goods were lost to the fire incident earlier this year.

The Senator said: “We are here to pay a sympathetic visit to the traders of the timber market over the fire outbreak and offer our total support to them at this trying time. We must appreciate God for their lives; once there is life, there’s hope.”

The market leaders through its chairman, Ichie Charles Okpara thanked Senator Kalu for coming to sympathize with them over the inferno, saying that the former Abia state governor “has always been part of them”.

The hugely successful visit had all the market leaders in attendance, including Prince Uchenna Ezekwesiri, Market Secretary; Chief Chika Alago, Treasurer; Mr. Odoabuchi Madu, PRO; Ichie Kenneth Ajala, Financial Secretary.
