In the heart of Africa, a transformative event has unfolded over the past three days, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of creativity, inclusion, and social change. The Ignite Conference 3.0, hosted by TASCK, has been a testament to the power of ideas, dialogue, and collective action.
From Day 1 to Day 3, the Ignite Conference has brought together exceptional guests, explored critical topics, and ignited a spirit of collaboration and innovation. Here’s a recap of the remarkable journey we’ve undertaken so far.
Day 1: Civic Participation
L-R Anto Lecky, Yvette Dimiri, Ibrahim Faruk, Adewale Shokoya
The conference commenced with the screening of “Emerging Voices: A Political Journey in Nigeria,” a powerful documentary supported by Luminate. This film shed light on the challenges faced by young Nigerian politicians, highlighting the structural and cultural barriers hindering youth participation and class equality in politics. It was not merely a documentary but a mirror reflecting the realities of Nigerian politics.
Following the screening, the Fireside Chat delved into civic participation in politics, featuring influential social activists and stakeholders. Their discussions left us inspired and committed to actively shaping the political landscape. It was a resounding success thanks to our esteemed panelists and attendees.
Day 2: Health and Wellness in the Creative Space
L-R : Ycee, Jennifer Agaldo
Day 2 was themed around Health and Wellness, focusing on mental health in the morning session and women’s health in the evening session. We were privileged to host guests like musician YCee, psychologist Oluwatomi, and Dr. Rohda from the Gates Foundation, who shared invaluable insights and solutions. The intersection of creativity and health advocacy was a recurring theme, showcasing the potential for creatives to drive positive change.
This session was particularly impactful with nuggets of wisdom around how creatives can develop mindsets to avoid fear-based or hyper-competitive mindsets to reduce anxiety, depression, and related mentals conditions. There was also illumination on the subject of seeking help and why speaking to someone is important.
Day 3: Gender, Inclusion and Inequality
L-R: Olamide Oladoyin, Chioma Omeruah, Gbemisola Ogunrinde, Ayoola Oluwatosin Azeez, Bamike Adenibuyan
Day 3 was dedicated to the themes of gender, inclusion, and inequality. We had the honor of hosting a panel of exceptional women from various creative and professional backgrounds. They challenged stereotypes, shared personal experiences, and offered solutions for achieving gender equality.
The afternoon session, “Empowering Voices,” tackled the importance of breaking the silence surrounding trauma and abuse. It was an emotional and transformative discussion that underscored the need for creating a culture that encourages sharing.
The night session, “The HipHop Event,” celebrated female MCs and addressed gender inclusion in the hip-hop industry. It was a powerful testament to the talent and determination of women in a traditionally male-dominated space.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional guests, panelists, and attendees for making the Ignite Conference a resounding success so far. Your insights, stories, and commitment to change have been the driving force behind this event.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors and partners for their unwavering support and belief in the Ignite Conference’s mission.
Looking ahead, as we continue this incredible journey, we remain committed to fostering creativity, sparking dialogue, and driving positive social change.
