Dear men of God, you need to go get yourselves gainfully employed, acquire a skill or learn a trade and stop opening new churches every day.
The fact that you can see visions and predict future events doesn’t mean you should start your own church. Jesus didn’t die for people to remain without any source of income.
Your life should have meaning aside waking up every day as early as 5am to go to major motor parks around town to pray for travelers and solicit for alms in return. This has become some people’s modus operandi in the last five or ten years.
You make gullible people believe that there are highway demons out to suck human blood, but of course the highway blood sucking demons are the pot holes, bad roads, over speeding, inadequate car maintenance, drunk driving etc.
Stop encouraging people to wallow in delusional optimism, believing that just merely saying positive things, shouting amen and claiming it by faith will fix their problems.
Stop asking lazy students who do not study to bring their pen for special prayers and blessings. And also stop shamelessly bringing them on the altar to testify how they didn’t study for one day but passed their exams in flying colours, while the congregation cheer them on with shouts of ‘praise the Lord’ and hallelujah.
Instead of encouraging them to study hard so as to pass their exams, you hide under religion to encourage people to replace hard work with laziness and special prayers.
People come on your altar to testify that jobs they least qualify for was given to them because you prayed for them. They get promoted to positions they have no qualification for and you think it’s godly.
How does a Grade 8 officer out of nowhere become a deputy director or a director in a setting he/she is meant to grow in rank and experience? It happens, yes and only in Nigeria a country where who you know is what matters. In sane climes, such elevation will be promptly investigated and those behind it will end behind bars.
People steal or buy babies from hospitals or orphanages, yet come to the altar for thanksgiving and spinning tales of how God blessed them with their own biological children. There’s nothing wrong with encouraging couples to adopt children if they are unable to have theirs biologically.
Do not start your own church because you have a problem with your mother church. There are churches in every nook and cranny of Nigeria with speakers facing the streets and blaring at highest volumes. You are insensitive to people who share same neighborhood as your church.
Every evening or Friday nights you organize a vigil. Your speakers are on high pitch. Your neighbors return from their hectic day’s jobs and they are made to suffer from the noise from your loud speakers. Can’t those speakers be inside your church to avoid noise pollution?
Stop brainwashing people into bringing or withdrawing their sick relation in the hospital for special prayers, while encouraging them to use the fund meant for medical bills to sow seeds in your ministry so that they will provoke God through their sacrifice.
Most of you have succeeded in pushing your members to a state of paranoia because of the messages you preach. Spiders, cobwebs, cockroaches, wall geckos or any creeping insects are seen as demons due to the kind of things you teach them in church.
Instead of encouraging them to keep their surroundings clean, they are busy binding and screaming Holy Ghost fire at the insects around them.
Many religious people in our clime suspend the use of their brain or just refuse to engage it once religion is mentioned and this has left many with shallow understanding of who God is and how He operates.
God created and placed man on earth. He gave man dominion over everything. Man is responsible for the good, the bad and the ugly things we see here on earth.
Ask yourself how much prayer and fasting the western world engage in to secure admission into higher institution, gain employment after school, gain access the best health care services or for their leaders to be responsible? None.
But we tie our having access to these basic things of life to giving some offerings or sowing a seed because of how dysfunctional our country is. We pray for everything, including things we should do ourselves.
People scam foreigners and are into all manner of fraudulent activities even with the consent of family, friends and society, yet appear on the altar for thanksgiving or even invite men of God to bless the proceeds of their scam.
Politicians who steal us blind own the frontrow seat in churches and mosques. They donate huge sums for church and mosque projects while there are no projects that have direct bearing on the lives of citizens, yet we cheer them on.
These crooked politicians who don’t care about the populace deploy all manner of mercenaries in their arsenal to win elections, yet you will see them in churches testifying how God gave them victory afterwards. It’s a shame!
Unfortunately, religion is one of the doors you find in the value chain of poverty. Most of these men of God are spiritually corrupt and religious manipulators who have reduced us to a nation of subnormal people and fools.
