President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Udengs Eradiri has alleged that the Federal Government is plotting to freeze accounts belonging to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Eradiri alleged in a statement yesterday that government will  deploy the services of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) to achieve that aim.
According to Eradiri, information at his disposal indicated that the EFCC has frozen Jonathan’s account under the guise of investigation.
He said in an interview that the federal government should not push to Niger Delta people and the rest of Nigerians to revolt with harassment of their leaders.
“I can tell you that Jonathan’s account has been frozen by the EFCC.
“Nigerians don’t know this because the man does not talk. What is our offence as Niger Delta people? Is it a crime to lose election?
“Because of national interest. Jonathan conceded defeat, yet, they won’t allow him to be. Niger Delta people are being hounded. After the election, we congratulated him and advised him to be father of all, but, it seems he is not interested. Jonathan’s security befitting that of a former president has been withdrawn, his allowances has not been paid. What is being done to the wife is to prepare the ground to finally move against Jonathan.
“Nigeria is down; the economy is crippled all because of the missteps of the EFCC.
“Go round the South- South, all projects have been abandoned because we did not vote for him. Since he said 95 percent of projects would go to people that voted for him and five percenet for those of us who did not vote for him, he should also be prepared to bear the discomfort the 95 percent are facing because of the ill-treatment of the five percent that did not vote for him.”
Eradiri also on the proposed sale of national assets.
“I heard they want to put up some national assets for sale. Ijaw youths do not have problem with that.
“All what we demand is that the communities where the assets are located should have the option of first refusal. If they want to sell Bonny LNG, Bonny people should have the right of first of first refusal, same thing with national assets in Eleme etc…”
Anybody that buys those assets in which the host communities are not going the option of first refusal is on his own”
The EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren when called for his reaction dropped the call when the question about the freezing of former President Jonathan was posed to him.
