Cardiocare Multispecialty Hospital, a member of the Limi Hospital Group, reaffirmed its status as Nigeria’s Centre of Excellence and referral hub for cardiovascular medicine while hosting the 9th Abuja Cardiovascular Symposium, which attracted over 1,100 healthcare professionals from across Nigeria.

The symposium featured the LM Iseko Memorial Lecture delivered by Professor Felicia Anumah, Professor of Medicine/Endocrinology & Diabetology and a globally recognised Fellow of multiple Nigerian, West African, UK, and US medical colleges.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Iseko Iseko, Group Managing Director of the Limi Hospital Group, restated his commitment to curbing medical tourism by empowering healthcare workers to adopt global best practices and make them local. He emphasized that Nigeria can become a hub for grooming world-class medical expertise if supported by focused government policy and sustained investment.

The conference focused on equipping healthcare professionals with the skills to recognise and respond to urgent cardiovascular emergencies, noting that many heart conditions often mimic other illnesses, where early and accurate intervention is critical.

Representing the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, government officials warned that the surge in non-communicable diseases is both a medical and economic emergency, with global data showing such diseases now account for 75% of non-pandemic-related deaths worldwide. The Federal Government reaffirmed that addressing this crisis requires strong private-sector innovation, highlighting initiatives like Cardiocare’s as essential.

With participants and patients drawn from all parts of the country, Cardiocare continues to lead efforts to make Nigeria a safe haven for advanced cardiovascular care, setting the pace as the pacemaker of heart health in the nation.
