Daredevil terrorists may have found Katsina metropolis new harvest ground for their operations with the latest killing on Sunday morning of two members of a local vigilance group behind the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Teaching Hospital (Federal Medical Centre) in the heart of the city.
The rampaging terrorists, according residents of Shola Quarters, invaded the area at about 2 am and also abducted an unconfirmed number of persons including a couple, Yusuf Bishir and his wife, who were wedded recently.

“The terrorists also wounded two other members of the vigilance group during an operation that lasted over an hour,“ one of the eyewitnesses said, adding that, “they brought down the wall of the couple’s house before getting access to them and moved to the other houses.”
The Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isa, reacted in a terse statement saying that, “our officers are on operations and will communicate details in due course on the operations.”
Last week, terrorists had attacked the Natsinta community, close to the Natsinta Army Barracks, where they reportedly killed one person and abducted several others.
Also, last Wednesday, the hoodlums stormed the Dan Tsauni community, near the Civil Defence training school, where they killed one resident on the spot.
Residents reportedly recovered the decomposing corpse of the second dead victim on Sunday morning in the area.
Meanwhile, the police command said on Sunday that its men raided terrorists’ hideouts at Unguwan Dako, Tandama village, Danja Local Government Area, and rescued six kidnapped victims.
