Taraba governor declares state ‘100% APC’, backs Tinubu for 2027

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has declared that the state is “100 per cent” behind the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence that residents would vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Kefas made the declaration on Wednesday after meeting with President Tinubu, where he said the people of Taraba had been benefiting from the Federal Government’s interventions in security, education, healthcare and infrastructure.

The governor, who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba, said he visited the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to welcome him back and condole with him over the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.

He said the incident, which claimed the lives of military personnel and other citizens, was a tragedy for the country and warranted his visit to the President.

“I’m also the leader of the party in my state, so I came to welcome the President home and also to condole him over the incident of the crash of the Nigerian Air Force plane and also the officers and men and citizens of this country that were involved in the crash,” Kefas said.

The governor, however, shifted from the purpose of his visit to his assessment of the Tinubu administration, saying the Federal Government’s interventions were being felt by Taraba residents.

According to him, the state had no doubt that the President was committed to supporting its people, citing security, free education, healthcare and infrastructure as areas where his administration had benefited from federal interventions.

“You can see that I’m on ground, we’re in charge. All the interventions, all the support from the President, the people are feeling it, from security to free education to healthcare system to infrastructure,” he said.

Kefas said the benefits of the Federal Government’s programmes had strengthened the people’s confidence in Tinubu, insisting that Taraba would support the President at the polls.

“So the people have no doubt, and they’ve given all the assurance that Mr President is reaching out to them through me, and for that reason, they are going to vote for Mr President,” he said.

The governor then declared: “Taraba State is for APC 100 per cent.”
