A summit organised by Nwoke Di Nma Initiative (NDNI), a group committed to re-inventing the boychild, has ended in Aba, the Abia state commercial capital.

Speaking at the summit with the theme: “Manhood, Responsibility and Social Order: Strengthening the Foundations of Society, Justice Chiemezie Nwakanma of the Abia High Court said at 18, a young man should be able to chat a course for himself and have a world view of his future.

Justice Nwakanma was of the view that at 18, a young man should not depend solely on his parents to chart the path of life for him, rather he should be able to know the right direction to move, to better his life in future.

He stated that a young man who, at 18, still depends on his parents and does everything they ask him to do, will not become a better man in society.

“If you are a young man, 18 years and above, and you do everything your parents tell you to do, you won’t become a better man in society”.

He stated that every generation must reinvent itself to suit its own peculiarities.

A former chieftain of the Labour Party, Dr. Chukwudi-Oracle Nwala, admonished the boychild to start early in life to make good choices that would help in shaping his future.

Nwala emphasised on how the choices the boychild makes today will determine what his home will look like tomorrow.

“There is one thing I will emphasise on, the choices the boy-child makes today, determine what his home will look like tomorrow”.

Chief Ugomdi Ogbonna popularly known as “Aba Tailor ritualist,” Ugomdi Ogbonna said young men must understand their responsibilities and stand firmly in them all-round

Speaking from his own experiences and convictions, he stressed the need for young men to be the spiritual head of their own homes.

Founder of NDNI, Chimdi Enyi Nwokeukwu, said he organised the summit because of his deep passion for the boy child’s success in life.

“I have great and deep passion for the boychild, which was triggered by my childhood experience and I believe, with what we are doing, the future will be bright for the boychild in this part of the country.

The co-host of the summit, Chika Art Adiele, sees the formative years of the boychild as very vital to the growth to his future.

Adiele said everything should be done about the overall transformation of the boychild, stressing that, “we can’t afford to leave the boychild at the mercy of a single narrative”.

He congratulated NDNI founder, Nwokeukwu, for his thoughtfulness in making his vision of re-inventing the boychild a reality.

Highlight of the event was the giving out of cash prizes and distribution of working tools to the participants.
