Suicide bombers injure 5 in Borno

Two female suicide bombers targeting Muslim worshippers in a mosque in Maiduguri have detonated explosive devices strapped to their bodies, injuring five.
The bombers were intercepted and prevented from entering a mosque at Juddumuri village at the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State capital. The attack occurred at about 5.20 am Saturday.
“Two female suicide bombers with IED strapped to their bodies attempted to enter a mosque at juddumuri village, after Federal High Court. They were intercepted and prevented by the Muslim worshippers.
In the process, one of them detonated her vest, killing both of them and injuring five others,” Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Victor Isuku, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said in a statement.
He said the injured persons had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
He explained that the second explosion was from unexploded IEDs detonated by the Police Bomb Disposal Squad after the first blast.
