StarTimes has introduced new family shows featuring popular Nollywood actresses Damilola Adegbite and Mercy Aigbe as hosts.

Damilola Adegbite will host Screen Perfect, a novel talent hunt show that brings promising actors under a roof, unleashing their talents to vie for N10 million prize money. The show will premiere on September 24 on ST Nollywood Plus channel, while Mercy Aigbe will host Smoke Eat Cook Out season four, a show showcasing Nigerian celebrities’ culinary skills and lifestyles. The show premiered August 26 and airs every Saturday on ST Nollywood Plus at 7:30 pm. Guests on the show include Hadiza Abubakar, Fred Amata and Olaide oyedeji, among others.

The shows are part of StarTimes’ efforts to provide quality and diverse entertainment to its subscribers, in addition to over 100 channels of various types and genres, such as news, sports, movies, music, kids, religion.

Meanwhile, StarTimes has announced that it is adjusting its subscription prices, effective September 1. The company said the price increase is inevitable due to the harsh economic realities in the country, which businesses are not immune to.

StarTimes explained that the rising cost of diesel, which powers its transmission stations across the country, the depreciation of the naira against the dollar, which is the currency used to pay for most of its content and equipment, have eroded its purchasing power and push for profitability, coupled with rising inflation which is impacting on the cost of business.

The company assured its customers that it has tried its best to absorb these costs and maintain its prices for as long as possible, but it can no longer do so without compromising the quality and variety of its content.

“We are not increasing prices to make extra profits, but rather to cover operational costs and continue to provide affordable and accessible digital TV to millions of Nigerians,” Lazarus Ibeabuchi, PR Manager, StarTimes Nigeria said.

He said subscribers who renew before September will enjoy the old price until their subscription expires.

“We appeal to our subscribers to understand the situation and continue to enjoy our services. We assure our customers that we will continue to deliver quality and affordable entertainment capable of satisfying the craving of everyone,” Ibeabuchi said.
