Sports, integral part of school curriculum -Unachukwu, Cedec proprietress

The Proprietress of Cedec International Schools, Dr. (Mrs) Ijeoma Unachukwu, has reiterated the importance of sports in the development of youths, saying that it is as an essential part of school curricular activities provided for the physical wellbeing of the child.

Unachukwu made this assertion in Lagos during the 5th Inter – House Sports competition of the school held inside the main bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Addressing the audience during her welcome address, Unachukwu, whose school based in Olodi Apapa with a branch in Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, said in her experience as an educator, she has come to the realisation that despite Nigeria’s diversity in cultures, traditions and political leaning, sports continues to unite the nation.

‘It is only in sports that Nigerians speak with only one voice. And we thank Nestle, Nigeria Ltd, Abbey Building Society, Ecobank, Fidelity Bank and West African Publishers for making the event possible”

The invited Schools include Awesome College, Covenant Child Academy, St Judes Private School, Vivian Fowler Memorial College and Dansol Secondary School all in Lagos.

Ruby House won the 5th edition. Ruby came first with a today of 27 medals,10 gold, 11 silver and 6 bronze, with Diamond House emerging second with 22 medals made up of 10 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals.

The third position went to Gold House who won 19 medals comprising 6 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze while Emerald House finished 4th with a total of 18 medals comprising of three gold, six silver and nine bronze.
