Nigeria’s Flamingos will face Venezuela in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026 on Sunday, with both sides chasing a place in the last four, according to a statement from the NFF Media Department.
The statement noted that the Flamingos had a difficult start to the tournament, losing 2-1 to Poland in their opening Group B match. They recovered with a 2-0 win over debutants Puerto Rico, then produced an impressive 3-1 victory over defending champions North Korea to book their place in the Round of 16.
Coach Hakeem Busari’s side kept the momentum going with a hard-fought win over Mexico in the Round of 16, which, the NFF said, has given Nigeria another chance to go further than they did at the previous edition.
Venezuela return to the tournament after a ten-year absence. They lost 2-0 to France in their opening match but picked up three points against African opposition Zambia to stay alive in the group stage. The NFF release said they showed their quality in the Round of 16 with a surprise 1-0 win over Germany.

The South Americans have a strong recent record, having reached the semi-finals in their last two appearances. The statement pointed out that victory over Nigeria would send them into the last four for a third consecutive time, making them dangerous opponents.
“With a semi-final place at stake,” the NFF said, the Flamingos must stay organised, take their chances and deliver another strong performance against a Venezuela side full of belief.
The match is scheduled for 6pm local time (7pm Nigerian time) on Sunday, 1st November, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex (Pitch 4) in Sale, Rabat.
