The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, on Sunday, confirmed that some of its staff failed in the discharge of their duties during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Yakubu stated this while giving an update on the conduct of the elections at a press briefing in Abuja.

The INEC chairman noted that already one of the Electoral Officers in Imo State has being handed over to the police for alleged infractions. However, Yakubu did not disclose the identity of the EO or the offence.

The chief electoral officer said the commission would not spare any of its personnel found liable of engaging in unethical practice, no matter the position of such person.
