From Shafa’atu Suleiman, Sokoto
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has described the eight-year administration of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as “an era of stagnation and asset stripping.”
Achida accused Tambuwal of refusing to formally hand over to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to avoid being documented as leaving behind “a state riddled with abandoned projects.”
The APC chairman said that Tambuwal deliberately aimed at frustrating the Aliyu administration.
He, however, praised the incumbent governor for what he described as prudent financial management and visible infrastructure delivery without borrowing.
“Since Ahmed Aliyu assumed office, salaries are paid on or before the 21st of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and major projects are ongoing—all without loans.

“He is focused on the welfare of the people, not looting their resources,” Achida said.
On Tambuwal’s political career, Achida argued that the former governor lacked an independent base, relying heavily on godfathers such as Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to secure power.
Achida insisted that Tambuwal would not contest the next governorship or senatorial elections, declaring him “politically retired.”
“No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state,” the APC chairman said.
