Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has commended the 100 young women participating in the first batch of the Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Programme, saying that she was happy that they were taking the training very seriously.

“It’s been five weeks of intensive practical classes for the Anambra Skilled Ladies Programme”, she said.

“What thrills me most about this novel exercise is the passion, dedication and meticulousness that these amazing ladies have invested in every task, however daunting.”

The Anambra First Lady said that she was excited to learn that the trainees were doing very well in their various chosen trade areas, saying that she was confident that they would excel with their new skills upon completion of the programme.

“I’m pleased with how far we’ve come in this great vision. Soon, these ladies — who began this journey out of sheer passion — would be graduating with the kind of quality and experience that will transform their lives forever. The future is bright on this side. These women are the real changemakers.”

The skill acquisition programme, a vocational initiative designed to equip women across the state with skills in traditionally male-dominated professions, was launched sometime in March by Soludo to empower young women and arm them with skills with which they could earn their living.

The skills training programme covers four key areas: Tricycle repair, solar and CCTV Installation and Repairs, AC Repair and Maintenance, as well as painting.

The programme, championed through her “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative,” aims to break professional stereotypes and provide women with high-demand technical skills for economic empowerment.

Mrs Soludo, in a statement on Saturday, said that the initiatives focused on bridging the employment gap, fostering innovation, and enhancing civic participation among women.

The First Lady noted that the five-week intensive practical classes for the young women have empowered them through a well-structured entrepreneurial package, offering them the opportunity to learn and prosper through lucrative technical skills.
