President Bola Tinubu is meeting governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja, days after the party unveiled its campaign council for the 2027 presidential election.
The governors, under the aegis of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, attended an earlier National Economic Council meeting chaired by Vice-President Kashim Shettima before proceeding to the closed-door meeting with Tinubu.
The agenda of the meeting with the President was not immediately disclosed as the engagement was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
The meeting comes shortly after the APC constituted its presidential campaign council for the 2027 election, appointing former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari as director-general and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as secretary.
The party has also announced plans to resume its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide as it begins preparations for the 2027 general election.
According to APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the registration exercise will reopen on Monday, August 31.
The renewed engagement between Tinubu and APC governors comes as the ruling party steps up its organisational preparations ahead of the 2027 election.
