The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, has called on the people state to support President Bola Tinubu second term assuring that the state will continue to benefit from the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.
The SGF was joined by a member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Tersee Ugbor, who declared that the delegation was encouraged by the SGF’s assurances and by the proactive posture of the Tinubu administration.
The endorsement came during a high-level solidarity visit by politicians from Kwade LGA of Benue State to Senator Akume at his residence in Abuja, yesterday.
The politicians which cut across party lines pledged their unalloyed support to President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027 and the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) and Leader of All Progressives Congress, Sen. George Akume.
In his remarks, Senator Akume expressed deep appreciation for the visit and restated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of Benue.
“The President has approved the deployment of additional security forces to Benue State following the recent visit by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
“He has also given the green light for the long-awaited reconstruction of the Makurdi–Yandev–Katsina-Ala road, which will open up the economy and boost connectivity in the region.”
The SGF assured the delegation that President Tinubu remains personally invested in restoring peace and accelerating development in Benue, describing the state as central to the nation’s agricultural revival and rural transformation plans.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the delegation, Barrister Vincent Uji and Elder Atsaga Anemba commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Senator Akume to the nation’s third most powerful office, describing the move as a timely recognition of loyalty, competence, and proven leadership.

“Senator George Akume has, over the years, exemplified selfless service, political maturity, and an unwavering commitment to the development of Benue State and Nigeria at large,” the spokesmen said. “He remains our most trusted and dependable political compass.”
The group said their decision was driven by Senator Akume’s consistent record of service, especially his facilitation of federal employment and empowerment opportunities for youths and professionals from Kwande and Ushongo local government areas.
His moral and financial support to individuals, families, and institutions in the region was also acknowledged as an enduring legacy of compassion and grassroots connection.
To underscore the weight of their endorsement, the leaders adorned the SGF in full Tiv traditional regalia, anger (a handwoven black-and-white cloth), a symbolic goatskin bag, and a ceremonial spear, all regarded as sacred symbols of authority, protection, and leadership in Tiv culture.
During the visit, the delegation also used the opportunity to call for swift action on the growing insecurity plaguing communities in Benue State, particularly in the Kwande axis which has witnessed repeated armed attacks and displacement.
Also speaking, the member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tersee Ugbor, declared his total support for Senator Akume’s leadership, describing him as the stabilising force and rallying point for all well-meaning politicians from Benue State.
“This is not a partisan gathering. It is a united front, leaders across all major political parties in Benue have come together today to reaffirm our loyalty and declare that we are ready to follow the SGF’s leadership direction,” Ugbor said.
The lawmaker noted that the security situation in his constituency, particularly in Kwande, has reached critical levels, but said the delegation was encouraged by the SGF’s assurances and by the proactive posture of the Tinubu administration.
“Senator Akume has informed us of the President’s concrete steps to address insecurity in our communities. We are already seeing signs of progress on the ground, and we are hopeful that peace will be fully restored in the coming weeks,” he added.
