Senator Solomon Adeola: Legislator with human face

At 56, Senator Solomon Adeola has served as a legislator for twenty-two and half years. His political journey, spanning the Lagos State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives, and now the Senate reflects a consistent dedication to service, accountability, and empowerment.

As the senator representing Ogun West he has brought unprecedented development to his constituency.

Within a short period, he has executed numerous infrastructural projects, from the construction of roads, block of classrooms, and healthcare facilities to the provision of boreholes, electricity transformers, and rural development initiatives.

His empowerment programmes from agriculture, skills acquisition, and youth entrepreneurship have lifted thousands out of poverty, while his scholarship schemes continue to nurture the next generation of leaders.

In two and half years as Senator representing Ogun West, Adeola has facilitated 300 infrastructure projects. These include 115 road projects, 30 units of 12-classrooms blocks, 32 Primary Health Centres, 25 modern markets, 13 town halls, 10 ICT centres, 2 Intensive Care Units, 2 libraries, 8 Police Stations and a Mobile Police base.

Other infrastructure projects facilitated by the senator include donation and installation of over 200 electric transformers, 250 solar street lights and 26,000 electric poles. He also made a personal commitment to repair and upgrade 10 major electrical infrastructures that affect about 100 communities in perennial and month-long blackout in Ogun West and beyond.

In the area of empowerment, Senator Adeola has facilitated and empowered over 50,000 constituents with skills acquisition programmes, equipment and cash grants for self employment. In addition, 15,000 market men and women were given cash grants ranging from N25,000 to N50,000 while 600 farmers benefited from farm inputs and machineries including tractors.

Also, within two years, over 4,500 students of tertiary institutions benefited from scholarships and bursaries of sums ranging from N100,000 to N200,000. Similarly, over 1, 000 students of secondary schools have been empowered with laptops after requisite trainings in computer programming.

For his contributions to national development, exemplary leadership, and transformative impact on lives, The Sun Board of Editors chose him as winner of The Sun Man of the Award for 2025.
