Former governor and senator, bdullahi Adamu unveiled his ambitious vision for Phoenix University Agwada, the first indigenous university in Nasarawa State, during an insightful reception hosted by the management of Phoenix University Agwada while hosting the Western Zone Traditional leaders on Monday.

With a profound sense of pride, Adamu expressed his joy in being part of the Phoenix University team, extending gratitude to royal figures for their visit to witness the university’s grandeur.

Reflecting on the journey from dream to reality, Adamu shared, “It was a dream that has become a reality. We dreamt together with the Emir of Keffi, Dr Shehu Yamusa the 3rd. It was not a dream of merely having a university, but later, the idea of establishing one.”

Explaining the rationale behind situating Phoenix University in a rural area, Adamu emphasised the significant rural population, where access to education in urban centres poses challenges.

He recounted his father’s teaching profession and the lack of educational infrastructure in Agwada, the university’s birthplace, underscoring the need for indigenous higher education institutions.

Addressing traditional rulers, Adamu conveyed, “It is not my university but the people’s university.” He urged them to embrace Phoenix University as their own and to strive for excellence in its development.
