In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of arts, culture and creative economy, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe has been honoured as the Icon of Crafts, Culture and Hospitality in Africa.

Runsewe, the immediate past Director-General, National Council For Arts and Culture (NCAC), bagged the prestigious award during the 2nd World Crafts Forum held in Kuwait from February 1- 3, 2026.

With the theme: ‘Craft In The Creative Economy’, the event brought together international crafts leaders, artisans and policymakers to discuss sustainability, heritage and resilience in modern society.

While presenting Runsewe with a commemorative plaque, a symbolic acknowledgement of his role in promoting craft, culture and hospitality, the Council commended him for his unwavering commitment to preserving, promoting and sustaining handicrafts, as well as empowering crafts communities across the globe.

According to the award letter signed by President of the Council AISBL, Sa’ad al-Qaddumi, Runsewe’s “dedication to arts and handicrafts aligns strongly with the World Craft Council’s mission and objectives.”
