The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has hailed the Supreme Court verdict that upheld the electoral victory of Governors Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Alex Otti (Abia) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos).
IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, in a statement yesterday encouraged the winners to be magnanimous in victory.
Dantalle also appreciated the other candidates and their parties who, despite not attaining victory, accepted the verdict with maturity and grace.
He encouraged them to reach out to all stakeholders, irrespective of their political affiliations, and build bridges of unity and inclusivity within their states.
The Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) emphasized the urgency of shifting focus from litigation to the critical task of governance.
He reminded the governors of their primary responsibility to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people who entrusted them with their mandate.
He urged them to prioritize addressing the pressing concerns of their constituents, such as security, economic development, job creation, and infrastructural development.
“The Supreme Court pronouncements mark a significant milestone in the resolution of governorship election disputes in Nigeria.
“IPAC’s call for magnanimity, unity, and a focus on governance underscores the importance of prioritizing the well-being of the Nigerian people and strengthening the nation’s democratic institutions.
“As the country moves forward, it is crucial for all stakeholders to remain committed to peaceful dialogue, collaboration, and the delivery of tangible benefits to the citizens,” he said.
