Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising road infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic growth, improved commerce, and tourism promotion across the state.
Speaking during the official commissioning of seven reconstructed roads in the Badagry Local Government Area on Wednesday, the governor said the projects reflect his administration’s broader goal of inclusive development.
The roads inaugurated include Aradagun, Mosafejo, Ilado, Imeke, Samuel Ekundayo, Toga, and Hospital Road.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the upgraded roads will ease transportation, improve community interconnectivity, and enhance the overall living conditions of residents.
“These road projects are more than just infrastructure. They are vital arteries of progress, designed to open up remote communities, enhance trade and commerce, and stimulate the tourism potential that Badagry holds,” the governor said.
Highlighting the importance of infrastructure in economic development, Sanwo-Olu said his government will continue to provide essential amenities that support businesses, create employment opportunities, and uplift communities.

“Your steadfast loyalty and trust in our administration have been invaluable. It is your belief in our vision and leadership that has empowered us to pursue ambitious projects with confidence,” he told residents at the commissioning.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the state government is strategically investing in infrastructure in areas like Badagry, leveraging its rich cultural heritage, strategic location, and tourism potential to drive growth and development.
“This aligns with our broader vision of inclusive growth, where no community is overlooked. We are determined to take development to every nook and cranny of the state through road construction, drainage systems, and other essential amenities,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, explained that the roads were previously impassable due to flooding and overgrowth. He said the reconstruction, which featured a semi-rigid pavement finish, now ensures durability, resilience, and safe passage for residents and motorists.
“The upgraded roads do not only ease traffic but also improve connectivity among communities, aligning with the state’s vision of intermodal transportation,” Daramola stated.
The commissioning of the roads marks a significant milestone in the state’s effort to bridge infrastructure gaps, promote regional development, and ensure that all parts of Lagos benefit from ongoing progress.
