From Laide Raheem, Abeokuta
Ogun Central Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has hailed the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Yemi Sanusi, and the National Leader of the APC, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, for ensuring cohesion within the state chapter of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 poll.
The senator, who also passed a vote of confidence in Governor Abiodun, said the trio has worked assiduously to foster unity among party members and leaders across Ogun State.
Salisu, who stated this while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta at the weekend, commended Governor Abiodun for convening the Expanded Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting of the party, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
According to Salisu, Governor Abiodun’s leadership style remains the uniting factor in the Ogun APC, stressing that “the combination of the three political leaders makes our party strong, reliable and united.”
He further lauded the party chairman, Sanusi, who hails from Odeda Local Government, where he observed that political loyalty always stands and where politicians do not betray the system.
Highlighting Ogun’s influence on national political discourse, the senator recalled that the key slang “Emi Lokan” deployed during President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 campaign originated in the state.

“If you recall, most of the slang used by our president during the 2023 campaign was generated here in Ogun State, such as ‘Emi Lokan’ and ‘Won Gbepo pamo’,” he said.
Declaring the bloc’s support for the president, Salisu added: “On behalf of my colleagues, we endorsed our president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the 2027 election.”
It will be recalled that Governor Abiodun, while speaking at the strategic meeting of the APC, had commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the concurrent removal of fuel and forex subsidies as “the beginning of genuine reforms”.
Abiodun cited falling inflation, a stabilising naira, $45 billion in foreign reserves and major infrastructure projects, including the coastal and Sokoto–Badagry highways, as early returns on Tinubu’s policy direction.
He, however, disclosed that the Ogun APC would deliver a new party secretariat within the next six months.
The governor, at the APC stakeholders’ meeting, which was attended by the deputy governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Ogun West); Minister of State for Health, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, among others, described a united APC as “unbeatable”.
Abiodun further disclosed that a federally backed dairy and cattle ranch will soon begin operations in Ipokia and Yewa South, respectively, insisting that “extending Tinubu’s mandate through 2031 would consolidate the ongoing recovery.”
