Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has credited its success to disciplined leadership and strong corporate governance, as top executives and regional managers gathered in Lagos this week for the company’s annual management retreat.
A major highlight of the retreat with theme “Reimagining Excellence: Ethics, Thrive and Sustain,” were the presentations by Executive Directors and Regional Managers, who shared insights into market trends, operational achievements, challenges, and growth opportunities across their respective regions.
Speaking at the retreat, SAHCO Chairman Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, represented by SIFAX Group Coordinating Director Wunmi Eniola-Jegede, expressed pride in the strides made by the board, management, and staff in projecting the company well.
Dr. Afolabi emphasized the critical importance of aligning operational excellence with strong ethical values and sustainability, describing these principles as fundamental to the organization’s success.
“This retreat is not only about strategy; it is also about shaping the leaders who will carry our vision forward and ensure that SAHCO continues to thrive with integrity, responsibility, and long-term impact,” he stated.
In her opening address, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Adenike Aboderin commended the management team for their leadership and commitment, which she said has shaped the company’s performance and sustained SAHCO’s reputation within a challenging and dynamic operating environment.
Aboderin acknowledged that the organization has recorded significant milestones because of disciplined leadership, strong corporate governance, and robust operational processes. However, she issued a strategic caution against allowing past achievements to breed complacency.
“These achievements should not lead to complacency, but rather serve as motivation to raise the bar even higher by ensuring that investments are translated into capability, accountability, and measurable results,” the managing director stated.
Her remarks reflected an understanding that maintaining market leadership in Nigeria’s aviation handling sector requires continuous improvement and innovation, particularly as the industry faces more competition.
Aboderin outlined the company’s leadership focus, anchoring it on four key pillars: operational excellence, revenue growth, business expansion, and long-term sustainability. She said: “These objectives can only be achieved by leading differently, thinking boldly, and acting decisively to consistently exceed customer expectations and reinforce Nigeria’s position as a formidable force in the global aviation industry.”
