Rotary donates educational materials to Lagos schools

As part of its of humanitarian deeds and corporate social responsibility to provide  basic educational needs in the society,

Rotary Club of Ojodu District 9110, has commissioned a significant grant project benefiting three schools in the Ojodu LCDA of Lagos State.

The initiative is in line with the Rotary International focus to improve the society through basic support. These educational supplies are meant for three government schools, two primary and one secondary schools in Ojodu, aimed at enhancing educational facilities and providing critical resources to local schools in Ojodu community of Lagos.

“The schools that have benefitted from this grant project included Ojodu Abiodun Community Primary School 1 & 2 and Ojodu Abiodun Community Junior School, who were recipients of 18 white marker boards; 2 renovated classroom blocks; laboratory equipment and library books with shelves; two crèche beds, bed sheets and mattresses; 3-in-1 printer (Laser MFP 135w), reading books and other stationeries.

Members of the club, led by the President, and District Governor, Ifeyinwa Ejezie, made the donations to the schools. “We decided to give educational materials as Rotary Club has other areas of focus,” she said.

This event took place recently at the Ojodu Abiodun Community Primary School, with the commissioning by the  District Governor Ejezie, who was represented by the Assistant Governor of the Club, Afelogun Idowu.

Ejezie emphasised the importance of giving back to society, highlighting Rotary International’s long-standing commitment to community service.

She encouraged Rotarians to continue supporting the Rotary Foundation, noting that such contributions enable them to provide grants that would make impactful projects like this one possible.

On her part, President of the Club, Ijeoma Nwosu, expressed gratitude to the DG for facilitating the grant that enabled them to achieve these projects.

Nwosu urged the management of the benefitting schools to maintain the donated items and ensure they are used for their intended purposes.

A significant moment of the event was the signing of the Sustainability and Maintenance MoU between the school management and the Rotary Club of Ojodu, ensuring the longevity and proper upkeep of the donations.

The commissioning ceremony witnessed an enthusiastic turnout from community members, school staff, students and local leaders. The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Ojodu for its steadfast support and generosity towards the schools for over a decade.

The principals and head teachers from the benefitting schools highlighted the immediate positive impact the project would have on their students’ academic experiences and overall well-being.
