From John Adams, Minna

All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain and former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Niger State, Jonathan Vatsa, has met with the Niger State campaign coordinator of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Dr Zagbayi Shem Nuhu, behind closed doors in Minna, the state capital.

The meeting which the Daily Sun gathered was at the instance of the APC Chieftain, took place at the private residence of the former deputy governor of the state and lasted for about one and half hours.

Although the detail of the meeting was not known as both Vatsa and Zagbayi declined to comment after the meeting, it was however gathered that the meeting may not be unconnected with the current political alignment ahead of 2023, and a possible switch of loyalty from the ruling APC by the APC Chieftain.

The meeting is coming barely 48 hours after a similar closed-door meeting between the APC former publicity secretary in the state and the former governor of the state, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, at his (Aliyu’s) residence.

However, this latest meeting with Atiku Campaign Coordinator has further fueled the speculations that the Coordinator on Public Affairs to the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello may have made up his mind to dump the ruling party for the opposition party in a matter of days.

Recalled that in 2006, Vatsa was the Coordinator of Atiku Abubakar Support Group, the Turaki Vanguard, Niger state chapter under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). He later became the publicity secretary of APC in 2014 after the merger of ACN with other political parties.
