Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Mr Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has sent strong signal to criminals to relocate from the state. He said: “The command arrested 20 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists, recovering weapons in various scenes of crime.
“We will go after the criminals especially, armed robbers and kidnappers. We are going to apply professionalism to smoke out the hoodlums out of the state. I am dedicated to implementing proactive policing strategies and community-oriented approaches to ensure a safer and more secure Rivers State.
“The command intelligence unit has been reactivated to nip crimes in the bud. Crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism have been adequately checked. The security structure in place has ensured adequate protection for the people.
“There will be proactive responses to criminal activities.
“We will engage in robust and effective human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance the capacity of personnel.
“Also I have warned my officers to shun corruption. Rather, they should imbibe community policing and respect the rule of law including the Police Act and fundamental human rights.
“The Police Tactical Team (PTT) arrested 10 suspected armed robbers in Port Hacourt.
“They who specialised in robbing victims of their valuable items. We are able to recover AK47 rifles, pump-action magazines and 20 rounds of cartridges. The police operatives arrested other suspected kidnappers involved in Mile 2, Waterside and Obibi in Etche Local Government.
