Hikers at the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari

The management of Rite Foods Company has been commended for its support towards the successful hosting of the 6th edition of the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari initiative.

Tourism promoters who gave the commendation said this year’s edition had male and female enthusiasts from all walks of life as hikers

The founder, Discover Ekiti Tourism Club, Michael Peculiar Ekiran, disclosed that the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari which is an annual event started in April 2019.

The event was organised by the promoter in collaboration with the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Office of the Governor.

Ekiran explained that the initiative focuses on showcasing, promoting and projecting Ekiti Mountain Tourism potential to the world.

According to him, “Rite Foods’ pivotal role as the lead sponsor of the event underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.

“Through its generous support, Rite Foods has not only contributed to the success of the 6th edition of Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari but has also helped to elevate the profile of Ekiti State as a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers.”

He hinted that through the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari, the body hopes to coalesce support for the development of the beautiful sites in Ekiti into a global tourism destination.

“We are happy that His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji hiked with us in this year’s edition. It is an opportunity for the governor to have first-hand information about the abundance of untapped tourism potential in the state. We are also glad that the governor has given the commitment to providing accessible steps along the paths and trails of Abanijorin mountain which will make it accessible for hikers and adventurers to hike throughout the year.”

In his remarks, the Regional Manager of Rite Foods (Ondo, Ekiti and Kwara States) Mr. Nathaniel Fola Barinkin, expressed delight over the company’s partnership with the Discover Ekiti Tourism Club and the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development.

He said, “At Rite Foods, we believe in the power of exploration and discovery, and we are honoured to play a role in showcasing the natural wonders of Ekiti State to the world.

“We are committed to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable tourism and cultural exchange, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Ekiti State government in fostering the growth and development of the tourism sector.”

The Director General of Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre appreciated Governor Oyebanji for his leadership role towards creating an enabling environment for tourism to thrive in the state.

He used the occasion to also thank the Governor for given the approval for the development of a Tourism Master Plan for Ekiti State.

“This initiative played a significant role in positioning Ekiti as a premier tourism destination, especially for mountain hiking tourism adventures. We proudly endorse this event, acknowledging its capacity to draw both local and international participants, thus contributing to the social and economic enrichment and benefits of our dear state.”

The state’s Chief Tourism Officer also extended his appreciation to the Executive Secretary Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Barr. Adegboyega Morakinyo, all Staff of the Bureau, Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti and His Wife, Oba Adeniyi Adeola Ajakaiye and members of Discover Ekiti Tourism Club for their support towards the success of the 6th edition of Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari.
