Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi to resign, for allegedly trying to bribe two justices of the Supreme Court, John Iyang Okoro and Sylvester Ngwuta.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Felix Obuah, who spoke in Port Harcourt, yesterday through his media aide, Jerry Needam said the minister had no moral justification to remain in office after the bribery allegation.
Obuah also called on relevant authorities to, immediately commence investigation into allegations against Amaechi and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on him to resign from the Federal Executive Council.
The PDP chairman said the party was shocked at the extent Amaechi allegedly attempted to influence the mandate given by the electorate, to governors of the affected states and added that the revelations further vindicated the state chapter of the party, as it has always complained of the activities of Amaechi and some of the APC members in the state.
“We demand thorough investigation into these revelations by these justices of the Supreme Court, and call on Amaechi to resign immediately, as he lacks the moral rectitude to remain in office as a public servant,” Obuah insisted.
