The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate alleged fraudulent allocation of land titles in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), between  May 29 and August 21, 2024.

This followed the adoption of a motion by the chairman, House Committee on Solid Minerals, Jonathan Gbefwi, at yesterday’s plenary, calling for a probe into the land title allocations before Nyesom Wike’s assumption of office  on August 21, 2024, as Minister of the FCT.

Consequently, the House mandated its Committee on FCT to undertake the probe and report back to it within four weeks for further legislative action.

It also resolved that all such lands which are subject to litigation or multiple allocations, should be identified and their allocations withdrawn by the FCT minister pending the resolution of the matter. Gbefwi, in the motion alleged that several title documents were issued to some real estate developers in the FCT, “in a highly suspicious manner.”
