Russia has strongly rejected reports suggesting it is sending troops or military equipment to Iran amid the ongoing Middle East conflict, calling such claims untrue and urging the public to dismiss them.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Thursday that recent media reports alleging Moscow was preparing to deliver military drones and other aid to Tehran were “lies,” as Western media and intelligence sources have claimed.

The Financial Times report that sparked the denials cited Western intelligence officials saying Russia was close to finishing a shipment of drones to Iran and could complete the transfer by the end of March.

While Russia and Iran maintain a longstanding partnership, the Kremlin insists it has not provided military assistance since a series of attacks by the United States and Israel intensified regional tensions.

Despite Moscow’s denial, other sources say Russia has given Tehran intelligence support, including data on U.S. military positions in the region a claim made by Western officials and highlighted by multiple international media outlets.

The contrasting narratives reflect broader geopolitical tensions surrounding the conflict, with accusations and denials shaping global perceptions as powerful states navigate alliances and strategic interests.

Analysts note that any confirmed transfer of troops, drones or intelligence between Russia and Iran could have significant implications for regional stability and relations with Western powers, though Moscow continues to deny such engagement beyond diplomatic and economic ties.
