- Takes restructuring demand to president’s table

Pan Yoruba socio-political and cultural organisation Afenifere has resolved to take the demand for restructuring of Nigeria to President Bola Tinubu.
The organisation’s decision is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a caucus meeting held at the Akure, Ondo residence of its leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti.
The organisation noted that Tinubu, being a key participant in the struggle against military rule and agitation for a restructured Nigeria should understands that the only way Nigeria could attain “a new and better lease of life is through restructuring of the country.
The communiqué signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Jare Ajayi, also charged Tinubu not to remember the role he played in the quest for a new Nigeria, and “not forget what needs to be done, how to do it, and the need to do it on time.”
The meeting presided over by Oba Olu Falae, commended Tinubu for his intervention and resolution of the political rift between Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Afenifere commended the military on the successes being recorded in the fight against terrorists, especially in the North East and North Central.
It regretted the spike in internal security breaches and called on the security agencies to urgently take steps aimed at reversing the insecurity threatening socio-economic well-being of the people.
It reiterated its call on Tinubu on the need to issue an Executive Order to enable States and Local Government Councils to establish own Police Services to curtail security breaches and other internal security issues.
It also urged the Federal Government through its various organs in charge of finance and fiscal policies to accelerate actions that will strengthen the value of our currency, enhance productivity, reduce costs of items and services all geared towards reducing inflation and enhancing the welfare of the people.
It tasked the Federal Government to ensure that the assurances on the commencement domestic refining of petroleum products are realised soon, and that deadlines given are adhered to, with a view to bringing the cost of petroleum products down, as high costs of products currently contribute to the soaring prices of commodities and services in the country.
