It was commendations galore and praise to God at the 23rd valedictory thanksgiving service of Starfield College, Fagba, Lagos, for 82 graduating class of 2023, recently.
The management of the college, staff and students used the occasion to acknowledge and appreciate God’s grace and support in the just ended academic session.
The valedictory thanksgiving service also featured praise session, music presentation, Bible reading, hymns of praise, pastor’s charge and dance celebration for the successful completion of secondary education by the 82 SS3 students.
In his charge to the graduating set, Pastor Lawrence Obi of Ministry of Christ Elect Assembly, Lagos, advised the graduands to remain focused on their academic studies in the university.
He asked the graduands to relay on God’s direction for the next phase of life, saying, “Don’t relax, it is not over yet. Be focused on your next phase of study. Starfield College has laid the foundation.
“Whatever you aspire to be, be focused and you will achieve success. Pay attention to reading and studying your books. The grace of God is upon you all.’’
Pastor Obi tasked the students to associate only with people with vision, “Make sure you associate will godly people; when you gain admission to university, you will meet different people. You must be careful of those you associate with on campus.’’
In his speech, the director of studies, Starfield College, Mr. Chris Eigbe, said the thanksgiving service was to offer appreciation to God for his grace on the school and academic success recorded by the graduating students.
Eigbe prayed that God would accept the school’s offering, stating, “We are happy that the outgoing SS3 students recorded an outstanding performance in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and the school exam conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).”
Principal of the college, Mrs. Sara Oyinloye, said the thanksgiving service was meant to acknowledge God’s favour and the successful academic journey in 2023, which includes the outstanding results of the students.
“We have come to celebrate and appreciate God for what he has done for the school, students and their parents. He will be with our children to their next academic level and beyond,’’ she noted.
She revealed that the college has zero tolerance for exam malpractice and that the results of the graduating students are based on their individual performance.
