Release of abducted Abuja-bound passengers: ABC thanks Nigerians, restates commitment to safety, security

Following the release of its Abuja-bound passengers and the driver abducted last week when the vehicle in which they were travelling was hijacked by gunmen, the management of ABC Transport Plc has expressed gratitude to the public for their concern, solidarity and prayers during the six-day hostage situation.

A couple were on Saturday, February 3, abducted at a village in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, but regained their freedom on Thursday , February 9.

A statement by the head, Innovation and Strategy, ABC, Mr. Victor Nneji, said the company appreciates the efforts of those who were directly involved in the resolution of the incident.

Reiterating ABC Transport’s commitment to safety and security, the statement read, “We understand the concerns raised by the recent incident, and we want to reassure all stakeholders that we are fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety across all our operations.

“We recognise the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing any issue. As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, ABC Transport remains dedicated to upholding our unwavering commitment to providing safe and reliable transportation services to all our valued passengers.

“We are implementing additional measures and protocols to enhance security across our network, further ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone who travels with us.

“We remain steadfast in our mission to deliver excellence in transportation while prioritizing the safety and comfort of our passengers.”

The two passengers and the driver of their Toyota Sienna travelling from Enugu to Abuja, were kidnapped by unknown persons who blocked the road and attacked oncoming vehicles in Kogi before taking their victims into the bush. Also abducted were 12 passengers of a bus belong to God is Good Motors.

Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed that the 14 victims regained their freedom “hale and hearty” at about 5 pm on Thursday.
