QNET denounces fraudulent Abuja Academy, supports EFCC arrests

QNET, direct selling company focused on wellness and lifestyle products, has disassociated itself from a fraudulent operation uncovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.

This operation, falsely presented as a “Ponzi scheme academy,” misappropriated the QNET name, resulting in the arrest of 133 individuals. These individuals operated a deceptive entity under names such as “Q University” or “Q-Net,” with no legitimate connection to QNET.

QNET commended the EFCC and the Nigerian Army for their prompt action in exposing and apprehending those involved in this fraudulent scheme. “We are actively providing full support to the ongoing investigation and taking immediate measures to prevent further misuse of our brand”, QNET said in a statement.

According to the EFCC, the arrests followed credible intelligence regarding the existence of this purported academy in the Compensation Layout area of Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“QNET has consistently been a target of fraudulent schemes within Nigeria, significantly damaging our reputation and deceiving numerous unsuspecting individuals. We reiterate that QNET is a legitimate e-commerce-based direct selling company that empowers Independent Distributors to promote high-quality wellness and lifestyle products in over 25 countries. We do not engage in financial recruitment schemes or operate “investment academies.” In Nigeria, QNET conducts its operations strictly within legal and regulatory frameworks through our authorized local partner, Transblue Nigeria Limited.”

Biram Fall, Regional General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, stated: “We are deeply troubled by the persistent misuse of our brand by individuals attempting to defraud the public. QNET has been a victim of fraudulent activities designed to tarnish our reputation. We urge the public to verify any claims of affiliation with QNET before engaging. We remain dedicated to supporting law enforcement agencies in their efforts to prosecute these fraudsters.”

Since entering the Nigerian market in 2022, QNET and Transblue Nigeria Limited have prioritized financial literacy and consumer protection. In November 2023, we launched the Say NO! Awareness Campaign to educate the public about scams and promote responsible entrepreneurship. This campaign has reached thousands through multilingual billboards, radio broadcasts, educational materials, and online platforms. As part of this initiative, we collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment (FMLE) and the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA).

“QNET and Transblue Nigeria Limited have formally contacted the EFCC to offer our full cooperation and explore collaborative opportunities. We are committed to supporting the ongoing investigation and ensuring that those misusing the QNET brand are held accountable.”

“QNET remains steadfast in its commitment to ethical business practices and transparency. We stand alongside Nigerian authorities in safeguarding citizens from fraud and will continue to provide full cooperation to bring those misusing our brand to justice”, the company stated.
