The Police Service Commission (PSC) has said it will be sending 400 officials to monitor the election and the conduct of police personnel in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The officials would evaluate the conduct of policemen on election duty during the 2019 general election, which will commence with the presidential election on Saturday.
Spokesman for the PSC, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, said the evaluators are expected to leave Abuja today.
According to Ani: “The commission’s monitors will be armed with its guidelines for the conduct of officers on electoral duty and the officers’ conduct during the elections will be assessed based on the guidelines.
“The commission has also procured dedicated telephone lines for all the states of the federation where the electorate and other citizens can access its monitors to complain or commend the conduct of the police, the lead security agency for the elections.
