Protests Against Matawalle Baseless, Says APC Youth Group, Commends EFCC
- Says Those Involved Are Ignorant of the Law
From Sola Ojo, Kaduna
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing Mobilisation Vanguard has condemned the recent protests against the Minister for State Defence, Bello Matawalle, accusing the instigators of being ignorant of the law.
Alhaji Ashiru Tukur, the Vanguard’s Chairman, stated that the “sponsored protesters” are engaging in a propaganda campaign against Matawalle and Minister for Defence, Abdulaziz Yari, due to their ignorance of the law and the modus operandi of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). He emphasized that the protests are baseless and will not stand as long as the ministers are delivering on their mandates.
Tukur commended the EFCC for dismissing the protesters and their sponsors, reminding them that the EFCC knows its job and does not need to be instructed.
“While commending the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for rubbishing these sponsored protesters that have lost focus on the constitutional duty and the modus operandi of the anti-graft agency, we call on the commission to go after the sponsors of these protests for constituting nuisance around,” Tukur stated.
He further stated that these protests are a waste of public funds and resources, as the protesters are using public funds to travel from their states and hire jobless youths in Abuja to spread their propaganda.
He accused the protesters of being “political jobbers” who have abandoned their constituents to poverty, insecurity, and economic challenges while wasting public resources in Abuja to pursue baseless allegations.
Tukur specifically addressed the protesters targeting Bello Mohammed Matawalle, stating that they are ignorant of the law and due process. He reminded them that Matawalle was screened by relevant security agencies before being confirmed by the National Assembly.
He emphasized that all ministerial nominees followed due process and were cleared by the National Assembly, making the protests unnecessary and a waste of time.
Tukur also accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led government of Zamfara State and a member of the House of Representatives from Zamfara of financing the protests, which he deemed demeaning to the people of Zamfara who are in dire need of security.
He concluded by stating that the protests against Matawalle and Yari are baseless and will not succeed. He prayed for peace, progress, and political stability in Zamfara State, the North West, and Nigeria as a whole.
