Prince George’s County, Maryland, USA, has officially appointed Ambassador Dr. Billy Okoye -GRI as the Chairman of the United Africa Advisory Board (UAAB), marking a historic moment for African diaspora engagement in the United States.
The appointment, conducted by County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy, symbolizes a deepening partnership between local governance and the African immigrant community.
County Executive Braveboy highlighted her vision to make the county a model of inclusive governance and economic empowerment, noting that working closely with UAAB will help return Prince George’s County to its former position as the wealthiest Black-majority County in America.
Ambassador Dr. Okoye, a respected real estate entrepreneur and renewable energy expert, pledged to leverage his leadership experience to foster community development, entrepreneurship, and cultural integration among African immigrants. He praised the strategic contributions of Dr. Jude Onyegbado and Ambassador Dr. Joy Davis for their dedication and sacrifices in making the board’s establishment a success.
With members representing 35 African countries, UAAB will function as an advisory body to strengthen cultural, economic, and policy ties between Prince George’s County and its African residents.
UAAB’s executives include Ambassador Lady Ono Achale, Ambassador Dr. Joy Davis, Ambassador Pastor Beatrice Benson, Ambassador Stanley Ogbumuo, Ambassador Hon. Chidi Ahaghotu, Ambassador Ike Ogbuebile, Ambassador Hannah Gyasi-Adonten, Ambassador Judith Ifeoma Nwafor, Ambassador CDR Kojo Danso, Ambassador Josephine Akpua Thompson, and Ambassador Nkiruka Elizabeth Ucheya.
