Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, has given out five cars, food items, and cash to commemorate his birthday for this year.
The items were splashed on journalists, widows, the needy, youths and others as empowerment for them.
The event, which kicked off on Tuesday February 14, 2023 at his Lagos church will end on February 18, 2024, which would mark the end of the 21-day appreciation and philanthropic activities, including the commissioning of a new building of the church, and a thanksgiving service.
One of the beneficiaries of the cars is an editor in City People Magazie, Mr. Wale Lawal. Primate Ayodele noted that Lawal on some occasions came “to my church. He would watch and go without revealing his identity. He writes things, even when I don’t ask him to. I know he came here by foot but I am giving him a car to appreciate him for all he has been doing.”
In the same vein, Mr. Ashamu Adegbola, a former photojournalist with The Sun Newpapers, was rewarded with N500,000 to assist him in his photography business. Primate Ayodele also gave a car to a school principal.
The cleric has also established a palliative market to give the masses the opportunity to buy costly food items at cheap prices with a view to cushioning then effect of the rising cost of living and economic hardship in the country.
In the market, a bag of 50 kilogrammes of rice was sold for N20,000, and a small bag of beans, which was N7,000 was sold for N2,000. Also, tubers of yam were sold for N1,500, a bag of semolina went for N1,500, garri went for N3,000, a carton of noodles was sold for N1,500, while wheat was sold for N2,000 and many more.
Ayodele explained that the palliative market was initiated to relieve Nigerians from the burden of economic hardship and to send a message to the Federal Government on the need to crash the prices of goods, instead of trying to implement other measures that are not benefiting to the people directly.”
